LOOKBOOK: It’s A Guy-Girl Thing

I admit that every woman wearing her man’s shirt will look sexy, no fail.

But what about when she wears her man’s…everything? Well, a few things 🙂

Having said that, today’s long overdue lookbook entry features an outfit that I absolutely love for the Fall! It also celebrates the fact that that women can indeed, do anything, including wear clothes that were originally made for men….and make them look sexier! Yey girls! 🙂

THE MOTORCYCLE JACKET:

These first appeared in 1928 and sold for $5 at the Harley Davidson Store in New York. Since then, it was worn by icons such as Marlon Brando and James Dean. In 1970, the one and only Ms. Debbie Harry cut off the sleeves and the rest is style history.

WORKER BOOTS:

Nothing mysterious about the origin of these boots! They were originally worn by working men on a construction site! Steel-toed Timberlands anyone? 🙂 When the first prototype for women came out, I do not exactly know, but they are surprisingly feminine for an originally masculine shoe. I love this pair of Panama Jacks.

JEANS:

“Blue jeans” made from denim or dungaree, invented by Jacob Davis and Levi Strauss, was originally made for cowboys. Not until the 1950’s did it become popular among teenagers.

With this look, If the boot is slim around the ankles, go for extra long skinny jeans then roll them up a little for a slight cuff to go over the boot.

If the boot has a large tongue, tuck the jeans in.

BURNT ORANGE TURTLENECK:

Hehe okay, not originally for men, but you must add a touch of your femininity to your “all guy” outfit. In my case, it is a classic turtleneck.

LIFESTYLE: VESPA CLUB – Ines

I have always dreamed of owning my own Vespa! They are so fun and elegant for any woman to have!  You can even ride them with a dress on! Ask Audrey Hepburn in “Roman Holiday”! They are also a great way to get around when you live in a city with very small streets!

I love how they come in so many different colours that you can pick one that reflects your own personality. As of now, I still do not have one of my very own …but as I wait, I founded The Vespa Club! What is the Vespa Club you ask?

Founded in Pia Ugarte’s bedroom, The Vespa Club is simply a group of stylish, (illustrated) scooter lovers with their own unique style…maybe you might have something in common with them! 🙂

Our first featured member is Ines and her little green Vespa!

LIFESTYLE: “Through My Lens” – Mariana De Saro

I first met Mariana a couple of weeks ago, in Madrid. We were introduced by her cousin, Maria, whom I had featured in my Lookbook a little while ago. You know how sometimes, when you meet someone, you would almost rather go to a dentist appointment than continue with the meal? With Mariana, this was definitely NOT the case. We got along like peas and carrots! She had the most joie de vivre than anyone I have met in a while….it was quite infectious. I HAD to feature her on my blog! So here it is! 🙂

Oh! And did I forget to mention that she is a photographer? A wedding photographer! And a great one at that. Being the face of Pierce Lifestyle Photo, Mariana’s work gives you anything but typical ho hum wedding photos!

Hey, and from what goes on behind her lens, I really don’t doubt it…No ho hum here!

FASHION / LOOKBOOK: It’s a Karl kind of day

I’ve always found Karl Lagerfeld to be a very interesting character. Always, and I mean always dressed in black and white, with his signature black shades intrigues me. I remember a casual conversation of mine with some friends and hearing about his obsession with weight and how none of his parties ever have food! Does anyone know whether that is true??

Well, this morning, I was flipping through the April 2012 issue of Harper’s Bazaar and there I found a cool little 2 page view into Mr. Lagerfeld’s day! I loved it! He certainly is a character and he had pretty interesting….and as some may say eccentric things to say!

So here is my tribute to Karl Lagerfeld and a little Lookbook entry on how to sport his look day to day! There are also a few little add ons at the bottom from the Harper’s Bazaar article!

If anyone is interested in reading the entire article, you can find it in the April 2012 issue of Harper’s Bazaar (Mila Kunis) pg. 93 to 94 “My List: Karl Lagerfeld in 24 Hours” As told to by Kristina O’Neill
